“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” It is a powerful reminder of God’s faithfulness and patience towards his people. At first glance, it may seem like God is delaying or not keeping his promises. But the verse emphasizes that God is not slack or slow to fulfill his promises, as some people may think. In fact, the delay in fulfilling his promises is not because God is incapable or forgetful, but rather because of his longsuffering and patience towards us.

God’s ultimate desire is that all people should come to repentance and be saved. He does not want anyone to perish. God is not willing to see anyone condemned to eternal damnation but instead wants everyone to experience his grace and mercy. The verse also highlights the importance of repentance. Repentance involves turning away from one’s sinful ways and turning towards God. It is a change of heart that leads to a change in behavior. Repentance is an essential step towards salvation and a restored relationship with God.

God’s longsuffering and patience towards us, despite our sins and shortcomings, demonstrate his immense love for us. God’s love is not dependent on our actions or behavior, but rather on his character and nature. As Christians, we are called to emulate God’s love and patience towards others. We should show grace and mercy to those who wrong us, just as God has shown us grace and mercy. We should also share the message of repentance and salvation with those around us, so that they too can experience the love of God and the joy of a restored relationship with him.

God’s faithfulness, longsuffering, and love towards his people. It emphasizes the importance of repentance and the ultimate desire of God to see all people saved. As we reflect on this verse, let us remember the immense love and patience of God, and let us strive to emulate that love and patience towards others.
