Today’s devotion is based on Numbers 14:22, which says, “Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice.”
In this verse, God is speaking about the Israelites who had witnessed His glory and miracles in Egypt and in the wilderness, but still chose to rebel and disobey His commands. Despite God’s repeated attempts to get their attention, they continued to turn away from Him.
As we reflect on this verse, we can learn from the Israelites’ mistakes. It’s easy to get caught up in our own desires and temptations, even when we know what God wants for us. But we must remember that God’s ways are always best, and we must be willing to listen to His voice.
It’s important to take time to reflect on God’s past faithfulness in our lives. We can be encouraged by the ways that He has shown up for us in the past and trust that He will continue to be faithful in the future.
Let us pray. Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for your faithfulness and the ways that you have shown us your glory and miracles in our lives. We confess that we often fall short and turn away from your voice. We ask for your forgiveness and your guidance in following your ways. Help us to be mindful of your presence and to listen for your voice, even when it’s difficult. May we trust in your faithfulness and choose to follow you always. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
