Today’s Devotional: The Voice of Him that Crieth in the Wilderness
In Isaiah 40:3, we read about a voice that cries out in the wilderness, “Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.” This prophetic message calls on God’s people to prepare for His coming, to clear the path and make it straight for His arrival.
As we journey through life, we often encounter wilderness experiences where we feel lost, alone, and disconnected from God. These times can be difficult, but they are also opportunities for growth and transformation. In the wilderness, we learn to rely on God’s strength and guidance to find our way back to Him.
The voice in the wilderness reminds us to prepare our hearts for God’s arrival, to make room for Him in our lives, and to clear away any obstacles that might hinder His presence. We must take intentional steps to make our hearts a place of welcome for God, to create a space where He can dwell and be at home.
In this season of Lent, as we prepare our hearts for the celebration of Easter, let us heed the call of the voice in the wilderness. Let us make straight the path for our Lord and Savior, clearing away any distractions or obstacles that might hinder our relationship with Him. Let us seek Him with all our hearts, and allow Him to transform us from the inside out.
Let us pray: Dear God, we thank you for the voice that cries out in the wilderness, calling us to prepare the way for Your arrival. Help us to clear the path for You in our hearts and lives, and to create a space where You can dwell and be at home. Strengthen us in our journey through the wilderness, and guide us back to You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
