Today’s Daily Devotion is based on Joshua 24:14, which says, “Now, therefore, fear the Lord and serve Him in sincerity and truth; and put away the gods which your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord.”
This verse is a call to action for us to serve the Lord in sincerity and truth. We are to put away all other gods and serve the one true God. It is a reminder that we must choose whom we will serve, and that we cannot serve both God and other idols.
It is easy to get caught up in the things of this world and to be distracted by other things that take our focus away from God. But this verse reminds us that we must serve the Lord in sincerity and truth, with our whole hearts.
We must put away the idols in our lives and focus on serving God. We must put aside the things that are not of God and focus on what is important. This means that we must be willing to make sacrifices in order to serve God, and to put Him first in our lives.
Let us take a moment to pray:
Dear God, we come before you today with humble hearts, ready to serve you in sincerity and truth. We ask that you would help us to put away the idols in our lives and to focus on serving you. We pray that you would help us to make sacrifices in order to put you first in our lives. We thank you for your grace and your mercy, and we ask that you would continue to guide us and to lead us on the path of righteousness. Help us to be more like you every day, and to serve you with our whole hearts. We pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
