Today’s devotion is centered on Isaiah 7:14, which says, “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” This verse is a prophecy about the birth of Jesus Christ, who was born to a virgin named Mary.
It’s amazing to think about how this prophecy was fulfilled in such a miraculous way. God chose to send His Son to the world through a virgin birth, and this was a sign to us that Jesus was no ordinary person. He was the Son of God, sent to save us from our sins and give us eternal life.
As we reflect on this prophecy, let us remember that God always keeps His promises. He promised to send a Savior, and He fulfilled that promise through the birth of Jesus Christ. And just as God was faithful to His promise in the past, He will be faithful to His promises for our future.
Let us also remember that Jesus is Immanuel, which means “God with us.” He is not a distant God who is unapproachable, but He is a God who came to be with us, to understand us, and to save us. Through Him, we have access to God and can experience His love and grace in our lives.
Let us pray:
Dear God, we thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ. We are grateful that You kept Your promise to send a Savior, and that You sent Him to be with us. Thank You for the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross, and for the forgiveness and salvation that we can experience through Him. Help us to remember that You are always with us, and that we can rely on Your faithfulness in our lives. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
