Proverbs 21:21 says, “He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.” As we go about our daily lives, it can be easy to get caught up in the pursuit of success, wealth, and material possessions. However, this verse reminds us that true fulfillment and satisfaction come from following after righteousness and mercy.
Righteousness is not just about following rules or behaving in a certain way; it is about having a heart that seeks to do what is right and just. Mercy, on the other hand, is about showing kindness and compassion to others, even when they may not deserve it. When we pursue righteousness and mercy, we are embodying the values of God’s kingdom and living out His will for our lives.
In our pursuit of righteousness and mercy, we will find life. This doesn’t just refer to physical life, but to the fullness of life that comes from knowing and following God. When we live in alignment with His will, we experience a deep sense of purpose and joy that cannot be found anywhere else.
Additionally, we will find righteousness and honor. When we prioritize doing what is right and just, we earn the respect and admiration of those around us. We become people of integrity and character, and we are able to make a positive impact in our communities and in the world.
So today, let us commit to following after righteousness and mercy. Let us seek to do what is right and just, and to show kindness and compassion to those around us. As we do, we will find life, righteousness, and honor in the eyes of God and of those around us.
